The best way to stop elephant poaching is to support the game scouts who are on the ground catching and scaring away the poachers. The next best choice is to keep hunting legal, and allow hunters to bring back their hunting trophies, so the hunters can continue to help in the effort to find and turn in poachers, and so the hunters will continue to spend money, which keeps hundreds of African people out of poverty and away from the poaching business. Other ways to stop elephant poaching include decreasing government corruption; reducing poverty through planned programs; controlling the development of natural resources; requiring involved countries to follow action plans; imposing sanctions on the countries that do not follow their action plans; burning the tusks that governments are stockpiling; motivating China to shut down its internal ivory sales; and improving the methods for stopping trafficking around the world.
